FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Thursday 1st, June 2023

Today, we are excited to announce the launch of the She Leads Climate Action Fellowship, a groundbreaking program designed to equip and empower young women with the strategic knowledge and tools needed to address the urgent challenge of climate change. This fellowship takes a holistic approach, providing participants with experiential training and connecting them with leading organizations at the forefront of Climate Action.

The She Leads Climate Action Fellowship aims to bridge the gender gap in climate leadership by empowering young women and girls to become influential voices and change agents in tackling the climate crisis. The fellowship recognizes that women and girls often bear the brunt of the climate crisis and are uniquely positioned to drive transformative solutions.

Through this fellowship, young women will have the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge about climate change, understand its intersectional impacts, and develop practical skills to take effective climate action in their communities. By fostering connections between fellows and organizations leading the charge in climate action, the fellowship provides a platform for mentorship, networking, and collaboration.

We are delighted to kick off the first cohort with Surge Africa, Ecobarter, Sustyvibes, RESWAYE, Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative, and Green Republic Farms Limited while we also confirm more organisations to join us as partners.

“We believe in the power of young women to make a significant impact in addressing climate change,” said Baliqees Salaudeen-Ibrahim, the Founder of Bays Planet Foundation and Team Lead of She Leads Climate Action. “Through this fellowship, we aim to provide young women with the tools, resources, and support they need to scale up their climate actions and contribute to building a sustainable future for all.”

She Leads Climate Action Fellowship offers a comprehensive curriculum that combines workshops, mentorship programs, field visits, and hands-on projects. Fellows will receive guidance from experts in the field, participate in interactive sessions, and have access to a network of like-minded individuals who share a passion for climate action. Fellows also stand a chance to access 300USD to scale up their Climate solutions.

Applications for the inaugural cohort of the She Leads Climate Action Fellowship are now open to young women in Nigeria aged between the ages of 18-26, mostly based in Kwara, Lagos, Abuja, Ibadan, and Kano state. To be considered for this prestigious opportunity, applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to climate action, leadership potential, and a desire to make a positive impact on their communities and the world.
